Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1860-1962

First established in 1860 at a meeting at the Jefferson Prairie Settlement. Though heavily Swedish, the church did include Norwegian and Danish members who left in 1870 to form the Norwegian Augustana Synod and the Conference (Conference of the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church).  In 1962, they merged into the Lutheran Church in America, and eventually the Evangelical Church in America in 1888.
