To document the 2025 bicentennial of organized Norwegian migration, the Norwegian American Historical Association is seeking archival donations documenting the anniversary.
The mission of the Norwegian American Historical Association Archives is to identify, collect, preserve, and make available historical records of Norwegian North Americans, both immigrants, and their descendants, and to serve as a resource for scholarly research on migration and an educational archive for a broad range of students. Our vision is to be the leader in the stewardship of Norwegian-American stories and experiences, relevant to other immigrant cultures, and in recognition of cross-cultural encounters.
Contemporary records will one day be of historic interest. Donating to the NAHA archives ensures that the legacy carries on for future generations. NAHA would like to acquire materials that tell the stories of the 2025 bicentennial. What type of materials do we accept? Documents (meeting minutes, reports, newsletters), photographic material, audio, and moving images created by organizations for the bicentennial. We accept various formats but would appreciate contributions to be uploaded in the following formats: PDF, JPEG, DOC, MP3, and/or MP4. If you have any questions, please contact the NAHA archivist directly.
All materials will go through an acquisition review process. The process includes assessing donations for relevance to the collecting scope, file credibility, and provenance. In submitting materials, you are agreeing to the transfer to the Norwegian American Historical Association Archives. Only submit materials in which you are the original creator or are the party of origin. Learn more about the Terms and Conditions here. After submission, NAHA Archivist will follow up with formal documentation for your archival donation.
