Dear Mr. Rølvaag,

Everytime I blaspheme anybody or anything I have reason to regret it later.

This time it’s the Bookman. Take a peek at the September issue and see as I did the lengthy dissertation on Translation by Hillaire Belloc. And there’s a promise of more to come.

Belloc tries to get at the root of a very musey problem and sets forth a set of rules that surely must be self-evident to anybody who’s ever dabbled with translation. It’s first time I’ve ever seen any full-length articles of that nature, and thanks to him for starting something.

Now here’s one on our dear Teacher’s College (Or on me; I can’t quite decide). I was to take five hours of practice teaching in the college’s “model” or “laboratory” school and filled out an application blank to that end. I set down my major and minor (history and English), but left the space blank where it asked if I had any particular preference as to subject which I wanted to teach. Yesterday I discovered on the bulletin board that I had been assigned to officiate over a 5th grade music class!

Disconcerting to say the least!!

As ever,
